Tabby’s Place: A Cat Sanctuary

Taby’s Place – A Cat Sanctuary – Ringoes, NJ

Are you a lover of cats?  Do you want to visit a cat “hospital” that cares for those that are in need of care for a wide range of reasons?  If so, you may want to visit Taby’s Place and see this facility that was built in 2003 to provide refuge to those cats that need help.  Stop in and visit the Sanctuary in Ringoes, New Jersey when you are in the area.

Tabby\’s Place is a cage-free sanctuary that provides refuge to cats in hopeless situations. Our residents come primarily from public shelters where they had once been scheduled for euthanasia. This one-of-a-kind facility serves as: An Adoption Center, finding loving homes for cats; A Hospital, providing medical and surgical treatment for sick or injured residents; A Hospice, providing palliative care and a warm, loving environment for chronically or terminally ill cats to live out their lives in comfort.

Tabby’s Place does not turn cats away due to age, medical need, or “lack of adoptability.” It is, therefore, a safe haven for several older, chronically ill, or handicapped cats. These cats have special needs such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or blindness. At Tabby’s Place, these cats are able to live full and happy lives with the medical care, love, and affection they deserve.

Unique Features of the Sanctuary:
*Provides communal living environments for cats, with plenty of horizontal and vertical space for exercise and play.
*Provides outdoor enclosures for cats to enjoy fresh air and sunlight.
*Contains special group rooms for cats who are FIV+, overweight, or on prescription diets.
*Contains an in-house medical facility.
*Uses specialized materials to facilitate cleaning and encourage a disease-free environment.

The facility now can house 95 cats with the goal to grow it to be able to house 400.  It is an adoption center working to find loving homes for cats.

The sanctuary was built in honor of the owner’s 15 year old cat, Tabby.  Tabby had cancer and passed away 4 months after diagnosis.  There are many places in the world where you can share your love for animals and this is one of them.  It is a not-for-profit public charity that focuses only on the care and treatment of cats.

Tabby’s Place is an indoor facility and is not equipped to handle feral cats.  They get most of their cats from public shelters where the cats are awaiting euthanasia.  Tabby’s Place doesn’t accept cats from members of the public at this time, it just doesn’t have the space.  If you are a member of their Guardian Angel Program they will take your cat and ensure it is well taken care of in the event the member can no longer care for them due to illness or death.

Watching Animal Plant Cat 101 and saw the special on Tabby’s Place. I was moved by the owners deep love for his cat, Tabby. I have been without any financial help from anyone or origanization feeding, altering and veting about 28 cats either left behind during Hurricane Katrina or born after. They live in a area of St. Bernard Parish that held about 60 apartment complexes. As the years have passed, apartment complexs have been torn down. Forcing me to move an entire colony when a complex was slated for demo. The last apartments were demolished after the filming of “The Colony”; thier only shelter now is highly densed weeded area’s. I am in hopes of finding homes for these very friendly and loveable adult cats…can you please help since Louisiana is overhelmed with animals left behind from Hurrican Katrina.
